In their new series of free library performances, the London Mozart Players are bringing the hugely popular fairy tale Peter and the Wolf, to life through music and its already a sell out!
Rebecca Kenny narrates Prokofiev’s symphonic which is touring four Croydon libraries including Thornton Heath Library on May 30 between 2-3.30pm.
The children ‘s tale is a perfect way to introduce the youngest in the family to the joys of live music but with tickets limited the show has proved so popular that tickets have already gone.
There is also the opportunity for 30 children to come and try a musical instrument at a pre-concert workshop.
London Mozart Players founded in 1949 by Harry Blech, is the UK’s longest established chamber orchestra. The orchestra has developed an outstanding reputation for ambitious programming, with a long history of association with many of the world’s finest musical personalities including: Sir James Galway, Julian Lloyd Webber, John Suchet and Simon Callow.
The counci l has unveiled a 10-year plan to transform the borough’s libraries into thriving cultural hubs with investment to increase the number of books as well as encouraging creativity from live performances to exhibitions and workshops.
The council will pilot new technology, which will allow users to access the building with library cards outside of core hours.
Libraries will also play a vital role in offering residents help and support. The council is developing a volunteer programme, with opportunities for all ages. If you’re aged 13-19 you can also be part of a Library Ambassador programme.

What’s on at the Library?
•There are a series of drop in sessions run by Croydon Works monthly on a Tuesday giving help with work or training from 10am to midday.
