“Just to say how much we enjoyed the market yesterday! A big thank you to all involved, it was a great event with plenty of stalls to browse and our two-year-old had lots of fun with all the craft activities. Looking forward to the next one.”

The second CR7 Market is just a month away and will coincide with a world class light festival being staged in Thornton Heath as part of Croydon’s 2019 bid to become borough of culture.
The Christmas Market saw over 30 stallholders offering local arts, crafts and food showcase their goods on the High Street.
The January 27th market will be the backdrop for Thornton Heath Light Festival in Trumble Gardens which is a spin off of the week long light event Lumiere in central London.
Life sized light installations of wild animals and flowers along with large flamingo puppets are big transported from central London to Trumble Gardens for one day only and the new arts group CR7 Culture is organising staged performances featuring local artists, musicians and dancers.
On December 16th, the first of a three month market pilot was launched by Thornton Heath Community Action Team which was accompanied by an ice rink, and also featured local talent showcased in the Salvation Army centre.
It proved to be very much a learning curve with plenty of positives and a few negatives which the market team are working to iron out in time for the next market. Additions being looked at include providing seating, music, and entertainment on Ambassador House forecourt.
The January market will focus on two sites Ambassador House and Trumble Gardens where the light festival is being staged and is guaranteed to attract hundreds of people.
The THCAT market team have 25 stalls to hire and other pitches to book at both Ambassador House from 12 to 6pm and Trumble Gardens from 4pm to 9pm. Bookings need to be made by January 12th.
If Crystal Palace beat Brighton in the FA Cup on January 8th, then on January 27th there could also be a home FA Cup fixture.
Stalls and pitches for Ambassador House are £30 and for Trumble Gardens £60.
